Auntie Anne’s Pretzels is a huge pretzel chain that you can find in many malls, college campuses, and airports across the United States. The pretzels have a delicious aroma as you walk by the store or kiosk, and if you’re lucky – a free sample awaits to entice you to buy. I reached out to their corporate office regarding which pretzels (if any) are vegan or vegetarian. I got a great response with a lot of information that I included below to help you decide which pretzels fit your dietary needs.

Response from Auntie Anne’s Pretzels –  Vegan and Vegetarian Pretzel Options

“Thank you for your interest in Auntie Anne’s Hand-Rolled Soft Pretzel products. We welcome and appreciate the input from our customers so that we may continually improve our system and respond to your needs and suggestions.

In response to your question about vegan and/or vegetarian menu items, Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Mix does not directly contain any ingredients from animal, dairy or egg sources; however, we identify these ingredients on the allergen chart to make consumers aware of the potential for cross contamination from other ingredients at the store level (for example:  some stores sell breakfast sandwiches that include an egg patty).  Our Pretzel Mix does contain sugar processed in a facility that utilizes bone char filters (a customary practice in United States sugar refineries). Based on your inclusion or exclusion of animal-derived products, vegetarians may or may not be comfortable with the use of this processing aid.

Most of our dips, the Sour Cream & Onion Pretzel (from the topping), Roasted Garlic Parmesan Pretzel (from the topping), Mocha Ice, Shake and Latte Products, and Pretzels that are dipped in butter do contain ingredients that are from animal sources (primarily milk or dairy related). Additionally, our Pretzel Dog, Pepperoni Pretzel, Pizzas, and Breakfast Sandwiches contain meat products.

Overall, there are several of our pretzel flavors, such as Original, Jalapeño, Almond, and Raisin, that would not contain any ingredients from animal sources, provided that they are requested without butter.”

I hope this helps! Happy pretzel days!
