Filefish can refer to any species of topical (or subtropical) fish in the family Monacanthidae. They may also be known by the names of leatherjackets, foolfish, or shingles. Filefish have over 100 species, with over half found in Australia. Filefish are closely related to pufferfish, triggerfish, and trunkfish.
Filefish are NOT a kosher fish.
