Brio Tuscan Grille is an Italian restaurant chain with a diverse menu. They make all of their dishes to order, and try to accommodate dietary restrictions as best as possible. That being said, I contacted their corporate office regarding vegan menu options at Brio. They responded saying that many of their vegetarian dishes can be made without dairy (and presumably without eggs, too), but that the best thing to do is to speak to the chef when you go to the restaurant to let him/her assist you with the necessary modifications. We’re hoping that Brio comes out with a designated vegan menu soon!

Sorry, but this type of response is common but means absolutely nothing. I recently received a similar response from another restaurant chain. I even called ahead to tell them of my dietary restrictions and they assured me that it would not be a problem. When I sat down with my family and asked for something to be made vegan for me, however, I received a blank stare from the waiter. After he said that he didn’t know if a vegan dish could be made, I asked to speak to the chef who was nice but also seemed confused by this request. We had to go over and over the details about what a vegan diet includes and what it does not. It was very awkward and time-consuming, and twice I had to send back dishes that contained egg or cheese. The best restaurants are those that actually include a vegan menu on their websites and/or have one ready when you come in.
I concur w the previous poster. My wife called Brio and asked about vegan options and they all but said they could do nothing to accommodate us. They said we could order salad without chicken and with oil and vinegar dressing. I guess that’s technically *something* but I’d rather just go eat somewhere with much better/more tasty/more nutritious options. (Would it be that hard to have a red lentil pasta with a vegan pesto or sauce? I guess so…)
thanks for the feedback I’ve been vegan for 18 years I’m really surprised that this restaurant hasn’t caught up with things. I live in Seminole heights you can pretty much go to any restaurant and get four or five vegan options even Bella’s Italian restaurant in South Tampa has six or seven vegan entrees that are outstanding
