Alaska Pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus), also known as walleye pollock, is a member of the cod family. Alaska pollock has a milder flavor and lower oil content than pollock. It is often used for breaded fish fillets and fish sticks, and is also the most commonly used ingredient to make surimi (used in imitation crab meat). Alaska pollock is also a fish that is widely used in fast food chains.
According to Chabad, who received their information from the Orthodox Union, Alaska pollock is a kosher fish.
