  • Since a lot of people are trying to be more health savvy, I feel that resraurants should try to incorporate that into their menus with more selections. Sometimes we are invited to restaurants for celebrations and in order not to be rude we attend. But it's sad that most reataurants (unless it's a vegan restaurant) don't offer a variety for all tastes. People are forced to stick with plain pasta, plain potaotoe, plain salad. These are usually the choices. Please come around!! I can guarantee you will get more customers in your establishments.

    • I totally agree. Besides being 80% vegan, I am also gluten intolerant. Some places work with me, others look at me like I have two heads. Some servers don't even know what gf means! I think it's just a matter of time when restaurants will offer more compliant items. We can only hope.

    • I'm not even close to being vegan or vegetarian but I agree. I'm looking for a restaurant now that does both well because I'm trying to take my vegan soon to be girlfriend on a date.

  • My grandmother wants to go to Red Lobster for her birthday, but when I looked at the specific menu for the one we're going to, none of these were on the menu! HELP! I have to go, but i don't know if i'll be able to eat anything. what do i do?

    • Take your own food, and tell the manager why you had to do that.
There is also the option of calling ahead and telling the manager of your situation. There are often things you can order that aren't listed on the menu.

  • I’m currently at red lobster right now and told the lady I was allergic to butter. The rice pilaf contains butter to brown the rice before the side is put together so the rice pilaf is most certainly NOT vegan.

    • Oh no! Can you tell me which location you went to? This list was provided to me by corporate headquarters, but it's possible your location is deviating. I'd like to look into it. Thanks!

  • Rice pilaf has butter. Noodles are made in house with egg. Asparagus has butter.

    I got plain broccoli.

  • I had the same experience as Alley in Atlanta, GA. I was with a big group, and we partially decided to go to Red Lobster because other people I was with like the fish and several online vegan oriented sites listed similar options. However, the only thing I could get was broccoli. I got a double order (appetizer plus main course I suppose). Apparently they don't know how to make any starches or vegetables without dairy products. The noodles also have butter to prevent sticking.

It could be just a regional thing I guess, but I got the impression from the restaurant staff that they follow the corporate guidelines. And now seeing this from NYC as well as Atlanta reinforces that. I also worked there 25 years ago in a different city. Except for things like maybe "fresh catch", they followed a corporate script. Consistency is important to them. Rice pilaf is rice pilaf at every single Red Lobster.

  • I’m not vegan but when I look for a restaurant I look to see if they have vegan options for my wife. Red Robin, Olive Garden and Denny’s are just a few and most Mexican and Pizza places will also have good choices. I never thought Red Lobster would be among them but will have to try it out.
