Looking for vegan options at Panda Express? Here’s everything you need to know. Spoiler alert: it’s not good news.
Panda Express is everywhere, serving up American Chinese food in more than 2000 locations. I contacted their corporate offices asking if they have any vegan options (such as the chow mein, steamed rice, or vegetables). However, I received the following response:
“Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding the food we serve at our Panda Express restaurants. Panda Express only offers a few non-meat entrees at our restaurants. Those entrees are not considered vegetarian due to our cooking process. Cross contamination may occur as we cook our meat and meatless entrees in the same wok. In addition, some of our recipes call for our non-meat entrees to be cooked with a chicken broth base. For these reasons, we advise our guests that none of our entrees are vegetarian.”
Unfortunately, this means that none of the items are vegan (or vegetarian)! For those following a vegan lifestyle, you will have to look for your quick Chinese food fix elsewhere.
I ate there couple of times thinking it was vegan no, they use chicken broth, sad.
Oh man same here, I m a raw vegan, been for many years, my roommate brought me steam vegetables and eggplant tofu, I ate some of it just not to be mean, and OMG got a very bad stomachache and upset stomach. I cannot believe that they do not clarified that in the menu. They should mention it so people like us, non meat eaters, know that we CANNOT eat anything there.
Disgusting and really 1999 of them not offering ANY vegetarian options and using ALL animal product. Vegans dont want to eat this shit anyway

Plain nasty. My husband just bought me vegetables that I will be giving to the dogs and just asked him not to get me anything from them again.
That's a bummer. I've eaten there twice thinking the superfood vegetables with chow mein is a good vegan option. So disappointed. Won't be going back. Only been eating Vegan for last 2 months and it's so hard to find good options unless I make it at home.
I didn’t know and use to eat there sometimes. I read somewhere that they would be offering vegan options in most of their locations but I just called the Redding, California Panda Express and I was told no, they don’t have vegan options. It is definitely backwards here. But she did say eventually they will be offering vegan options,
There should be no questions and all restaurants should offer the choice as not everyone eats animals.
Forget Panda. How difficult would it be for them to cook in vegetable broth and offer more variety to different people.
