Cracker Barrel Vegan Menu Options

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store has both a restaurant and general store component. The restaurant portion serves up classic American comfort food. I reached out to their corporate office to find out if any of this comfort food would be suitable for a vegan diet. As it turns out, there are a limited number of vegan menu options, listed below.

Vegan Menu Options at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Restaurant

Tossed salad

Oatmeal

Baked potato

Corn (contains margarine)

Carrots (contains margarine)

Fried apples (contains margarine)

While these elements don’t quite come together to make a homey, comfort meal, at least there are a few vegan options if you find yourself at Cracker Barrel.

  • I have been in a CB where I was told that the sweet potatoes were rubbed with lard before baking. Not ridiculous!!

  • i work at cracker barrel and am vegan and there are more options ! the fried okra and fries are vegan (however common fryer is used , so depending on how strict you are , they may not be a great option) the brussel sprout and kale salad is vegan (and delicious) . the sourdough bread is also vegan . the blackberry and peach cobblers are vegan without the ice cream (crazy , i know) and i think there’s more but that’s all i can think of right now !

  • I just started as a prep cook in a CB and the sweet potatoes are just thrown in the oven and baked as-is, though we do rub the regular potatoes in fryer shortening which I'm assuming is not vegan. You do have to ask for your potato without butter though, at least at ours. Oats are pre-cooked in milk, and I'm guessing most if not all our bread is non-vegan, but they dont have the ingredients listed on the bags in our kitchen so idk. I have no idea about the cobblers, the dough comes pre-made and pre-cut for us so I don't know the ingredients of those either, personally I wouldn't trust them unless I saw an ingredients list.

  • I think your missing the mark. There are more and more vegans. If you could offer a plant based burger or the many other vegan dishes ( Spanish rice, taco spaghetti casserole) that would be wonderful. Think about this, the husband might be vegan but the wife may not. Thank you for listening
